Practice reading to a dog virtually! From the safety and comfort of your own home, you can read via video chat (Zoom, Skype, or Google Meet) to a therapy dog from the library’s Paws & Read program. Children aged 6 & up can sign up below, and our reading volunteer will get in touch with you to schedule a time. Contact information provided will only be shared with the therapy dog owner in order to facilitate the Paws & Read program and will not be shared with any other parties or used for any other purpose.
Theo is an almost 4-year-old Australian Labradoodle (also called a Cobberdog). He visited the library when he was a puppy but was too little to join the Paws and Read program. He has been waiting and waiting and now he is finally a certified therapy dog and is ready to listen to kids learning to read. He knows that when you keep trying to do something (like reading or becoming a therapy dog), you will get better and better. He hopes to visit the library often after the pandemic is over. In the meantime, he would love to listen to reading over the internet from anyone who wants to tell him a story. Theo’s person is Marie Robert, a retired pediatrician, who makes sure that she and Theo keep learning and playing.
This event has reached the maximum number of participants. Please call the library at 203-453-8282 to be put on a waiting list.
