Remembering Hillary Waugh

Renowned mystery author and former Guilford First Selectman Hillary Waugh recently passed away at the age of 88. Mr. Waugh penned over 50 novels, and won the prestigious Grand Master Award in 1989 from the Mystery Writers of America.: Read his obituary here and check out his holdings in the Library's Mystery collection.

October 16th is the 250th birthday of Connecticut's own Noah Webster. The Yale alumnus revolutionized the way we spell, read, speak and understand English. Happy Bloomsday

June 16th is Bloomsday!

The Board of the Modern Library deemed James Joyce's Ulysses the best novel of the Twentieth Century. The influential novel takes place on June 16th, 1904 in Dublin, where every year on that date ceremonies and readings celebrate the life and work of the author.
